Yesterday was apparently the hottest day of the year so far. I haven’t heard about today yet, but it seemed hotter, at least closer. Although we tried to cycle mainly along the Weisser Main and the Roter Main the countryside was very undulating.

Our first proper stop was Kulmbach, which is not at all cyclist-friendly. As our legs were tired and it was hot we didn’t end up going up to the castle, which is visible from afare.

We had our lunch break in the beergarden in Neudrossenfeld. Just as well we had our picknick with us, as all the restaurants had their day off on the same day – today! While we sat under the parasol it rained – perfect timing. We followed the Burgenradweg all day, which had quite a few bicycle sculptures.

Lime trees seem to be a thing in this area, they seem to dance around them, have a museum for them, and plant them along their roads.

We ended up in Bayreuth and did a bit of shopping. The maypole is quite different here, with a red band.

When we were sitting in the beer garden here, a guy we had met in a beer garden in Coburg came up to us! Small world.
