Overnight in Bad Aibling, 88 km

We needed to get out, the situation in general was getting us down, so we spontaneously booked a hotel for one night in Bad Aibling and cycled there on Saturday, back on Sunday. Since it is only the beginning of March, this was our first winter tour of more than a day. Luckily it was sunny, so it was not too cold – although even I wore gloves for parts of the trip.

On the way there we took the route suggested to us by komoot, which by en large we had done the other way around last year on the way back from Fischbachau once. We had lunch sitting out side at Oswald in Großhelfendorf, after we had climbed most of the height to get over the ridge into the valley of the Mangfall.

We could tell it is still winter, although there was no snow where we cycled, because everything looked fairly bleak, even the valley of the Mangfall. There were not many cyclists around – quite pleasant.

The hotel was quite busy, though, so we did not use the pool on Saturday but waited for Sunday morning. It was also a bit of a strange place… Judge for yourself from the pictures below.

After a great breakfast we set out again in the late morning. The route to Glonn was magnificent! This part of the trip was through areas we had not explored yet. We passed a pilgrimage church in Weihenlinden and a thousand-year old lindenbaum. The climb out of Glonn is quite steep, and then we were in familiar territory again.

All in all a great trip, really felt like a holiday!
